SIU Kwai Yee Alice

Biography

Dr. Siu is the Fellow in Otolaryngology of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh, the Fellow of the Hong Kong College of Otorhinolaryngologists, the Fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Medicine (Otorhinolaryngology), and a member of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. She graduated from the Chinese University of Hong Kong and the University of Sydney. After completing her specialist training in ENT as a distinguished young fellow, Dr. Siu pursued a sub-specialty training in pediatrics ENT. Dr. Siu had attended training around the globe and received her overseas training in the Red Cross War Memorial Hospital in Cape Town. After 20 years of practice in public hospitals in Hong Kong, Dr. Siu joined the Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen School of Medicine as Assistant Professor in 2024 and is appointed Acting Assistant Dean (Clinical Education).

In terms of scientific achievements, Dr. Siu received a Merit for Clinical Research by the Beijing Children’s Hospital, the Best Presentation Prize by the Hong Kong Society of Paediatrics, the Outstanding Team Award by the Hospital Authority Hong Kong, and the Certification of Appreciation by the Hong Kong Special Administration Region Government. Dr. Siu has published over 30 journal, conferences paper and book chapters. Dr. Siu identifies herself as a socialist, feminist, and environmentalist. She lives by the motto “儿无阶,尽展能” (to aid all children reaching their potentials regardless of their backgrounds). She also takes an active role in a charity foundation to offer volunteer otological surgery to patients in various parts of China.

Dr. Siu is competent in diagnosis and treatment of all ear, nose and throat diseases, including:

  1. Diagnosis of stridor, hoarseness and dysphagia in infants and children
  2. Airway endoscopic and open reconstruction surgery
  3. Decannulation from tracheostomy
  4. Sleep apnea diagnosis and treatment
  5. Tonsillectomy and endoscopic adenoidectomy
  6. Endoscopic tympanoplasty and mastoidectomy
  7. Comprehensive sialorrhea (salivary incontinence) management
  8. Laser surgery in ear, nose and throat
