Biography

Dr. Shi Jianbo obtained his doctoral degree from Jinan University in 1998 and completed his postdoctoral research at Sun Yat-sen University in 2003. He is a renowned expert in the field of rhinology, nasal and orbital-related disciplines, and nasal skull base surgery, both in China and internationally. Currently, he holds the positions of professor, chief physician, and doctoral supervisor at Sun Yat-sen University. Since 1991, Dr. Shi has been extensively involved in clinical research and basic research on chronic rhinosinusitis. He is one of the earliest specialists in this field in China and has performed a large number of surgeries related to chronic rhinosinusitis. He has achieved great success in areas such as the standardized treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis, endoscopic optic nerve decompression, frontal sinus surgery, endoscopic sinus tumor surgery, and standardized treatment of pediatric sleep apnea. He has been working in the Otolaryngology Department of a tertiary hospital for over 30 years.

In terms of research, Dr. Shi has undertaken 45 research projects, including one special research project from the Ministry of Health and six projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation. He has published more than 174 papers in important domestic and international academic journals and has participated in the compilation of three monographs. He has received one first prize and one second prize for scientific and technological achievements from the Ministry of Education, as well as one first prize for scientific and technological achievements from Guangdong Province. He currently serves as an executive committee member and regional vice chairman of the International Rhinologic Society. He has also held positions such as deputy group leader of the Rhinology Group of the Chinese Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, deputy editor of the Rhinology Editorial Board of the Journal of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, executive member of the Chinese Medical Doctors Association, and deputy director of the Guangdong Society of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery.

Dr. Shi specializes in chronic rhinosinusitis, benign and malignant tumors of the nasal cavity, nasal and orbital-related surgery, and nasal skull base surgery. He has particularly high expertise in the field of refractory rhinosinusitis (with asthma and eosinophilic rhinosinusitis) and endoscopic surgery for refractory frontal sinusitis. His main clinical interests include:
1. Standardized treatment of chronic rhinosinusitis and nasal polyps.
2. Various nasal cavity expansion surgeries for nasal congestion.
3. Medical and surgical interventions for pediatric sleep apnea.
4. Surgical removal of benign and malignant tumors in the nasal cavity, sinuses, and nasal skull base.
5. Endoscopic surgical management of various nasal and orbital-related diseases.
