Biography

Dr. Chong Houming obtained his Bachelor’s degree from the University of Hong Kong Medical School in 1986 and subsequently worked at the Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong. In 1996, he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Glasgow in Otolaryngology (Ear, Nose, and Throat) and a fellow of the Hong Kong Academy of Otolaryngology. In 2000, he was awarded the fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh in Otolaryngology and the fellowship of the Hong Kong College of Otorhinolaryngologists. Dr. Chong then pursued further training in Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Pittsburgh in the United States. In 2010, he became a consultant in the Department of Otorhinolaryngology at the Elizabeth Hospital in Hong Kong, and in 2013, he assumed the role of department head until 2020. In 2024, he was appointed as an ENT consultant doctor at the Heal Medical.

His primary clinical focus includes:

  • Various ear, nose, and throat surgeries: Dr. Chong specializes in performing nasal endoscopic surgeries such as polyp removal, treatment of sinusitis, correction of deviated nasal septum, removal of vocal cord polyps, treatment of enlarged tonsils and adenoids, management of middle ear infections, and repair of eardrum perforations
  • Sleep apnea surgeries
  • Head and neck tumors: Including thyroid tumors, salivary gland tumors, and pharyngeal and laryngeal tumors
  • Endoscopic skull base surgeries: Dr. Chong performs surgeries on the skull base using endoscopic techniques, including resection of early-stage nasopharyngeal carcinoma recurrence and olfactory neuroblastoma
