Biography
Dr. Xia Qun has been engaged in orthopedics and spinal surgery for nearly 40 years, specializing in the treatment of various spinal disorders, such as discogenic low back pain, spinal cord injury, cervical thoracolumbar disc herniation, spinal stenosis, spinal tumors, bone infections, and congenital spinal malformations. Dr. Xia is not only good at various conventional anterior and posterior surgical methods in the field of spine surgery, but also one of the founders of thoracic and abdominal thoracic and lumbar anterior disc replacement, fracture, infection, etc., and pioneered the anterior and posterior combined approach to three-dimensional reconstruction of the spine, and the anterior and posterior combined three-dimensional reconstruction of the cervical spine in the sitting position. In addition, Dr. Xia has deep attainments in orthopedic trauma, osteoarthropathy, and complex trauma treatment.
Dr. Xia received his bachelor’s degree from Tianjin Medical College (now Tianjin Medical University) in 1985 and his Master’s degree from Tianjin Medical University in 2002. He has been working in Tianjin Hospital for 30 years continuously, and has been engaged in clinical research of trauma first aid with Professor Jin Hongbin, an expert in trauma first aid in China. In 2000, he took over as the director of the emergency Department of Tianjin Hospital, and presided over the treatment of critical multiple injuries and compound injuries for many times. In 2003, he was the director of the General Orthopedics Department of Tianjin Hospital, and in 2004, he was the director of the second ward of Spinal Surgery Department of Tianjin Hospital. In 2009, he was fully funded by the China Scholarship Council and was sent to the Department of Orthopedics of Massachusetts General Hospital of Harvard University as a visiting scholar to conduct relevant clinical basis and in vivo spinal kinematics research. The research direction is discogenic low back pain, lumbar non-fusion technology, and in vivo spinal biomechanics research. He was appointed as a guest research scientist at the Orthopaedic Bioengineering Laboratory of Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard University, USA. In 2015, he was transferred to the orthopedic Hospital of the Affiliated Hospital of the Armed Police Logistics College, and the president of Tianjin Rescue Medical Association (a first-level association legal person). After the military reform, he is now the chief expert of the Armed Police Characteristic Medical Center. He has studied orthopedics and neurosurgery in many hospitals in the United States, Germany and France.
Dr. Xia has published 45 academic papers in core orthopaedic journals at home and abroad (6 included in SCI), and participated in the compilation of many orthopaedic monographs. Paper “issue to enable a joint approach before and after surgical treatment for severe thoracolumbar fracture dislocation” by China Association for Science and Technology award for the best paper, “best paper award of the orthopedic journal. Participated in 4 projects and won 6 awards; Presided over and participated in a number of National Nature Foundation projects and Tianjin Health Bureau major research projects; Fill in 5 new medical and health technology gaps in Tianjin.
Dr. Xia is currently a member of the 11th CPPCC of Tianjin, Standing Committee of the 12th, 13th and 14th sessions, and President of Tianjin Rescue Medicine Society. He is currently a standing member of the Traumatology Branch of the Chinese Medical Association, a deputy chairman of the Spinal Working Committee of the Orthopaedic and Traumatology Branch of the Chinese Association of Traditional and Western Medicine, a deputy chairman of the spinal Trauma Education Group of the Orthopaedic Professional Committee of the Chinese Medical Education Association, and a deputy chairman of the spinal cord Professional Committee of the Tianjin Rehabilitation Medical Association. Editorial board member of Chinese Journal of Orthopedics, Chinese Medical Journal, Chinese Journal of Trauma, Chinese Journal of Trauma, Chinese Journal of Orthopedics.
