Biography

Dr. Guan graduated from Bethune Medical University, majoring in medicine. Under the tutelage of Mostafa Elhilali, President of the International Society of Urology, Dr. Guan completed his master’s, doctoral and post-doctoral studies in Canada. During his time in Canada, Dr. Guan worked at the First Clinical College of Bethune Medical University, Royal Victoria Hospital of McGill University, Montreal General Hospital of McGill University, Children’s Hospital of McGill University, and the Urology Department of St. Luc Hospital, University of Montreal.

In 1999, he was introduced to Shenzhen by the government, and successively served as the director of general surgery and urology department of Shenzhen People’s Hospital, Peking University Shenzhen Hospital, and executive deputy director of Peking University Shenzhen Institute of Urology.

Dr. Guan has over 40 years of extensive clinical practice, with rich experience in prostate obstructive diseases, urinary tract tumors, bladder dysfunction, female urology and pediatric urology. He established the world’s first animal model for urodynamic examination of bladder outlet obstruction under pure physiological conditions, and created a modern clinical urodynamic examination model, which contributed greatly to the diagnosis of functional urological diseases worldwide. Dr. Guan is also the earliest pioneer of various minimally invasive, endoscopic and other modern technologies in the field of urology in Shenzhen, and was the first doctor to carry out a kidney transplant operation in Shenzhen.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Guan has trained masters and doctors for Peking University and Bethune Medical University. He has served as an evaluation expert of Peking University’s doctoral defense committee and was also honored to be appointed as the chairman of the doctoral defense committee of Paris V University. He has authored and translated 10 books, published more than 100 papers, and delivered more than 500 reports at major academic conferences at home and abroad.

Dr. Guan, he is the valued member of the International Urological Society, the International Continence Society, the Urology Branch of the Chinese Medical Doctor Association, the Urology Branch of the Chinese Anti-Cancer Association, and the Urology Continence Society of the Chinese Medical Association.
